Hey! To help you get your questions answered quickly, I created this new mini-post series all about Squarespace and Biz tips. Blogs in the mini-series will be shorter and sometimes related to a Freebie to help you get some answers to your questions. Today, let’s talk about Delegating 101.
WHY?
Because You Can’t Do Everything! Maybe you launched your business a few months ago, and you are not ready to have a full-time employee… and you act as the general manager, virtual assistant, social media expert, and client service manager.
For now, your budget doesn’t allow you to hire your first employee, but can you delegate duties to an hourly employee?
When I started my business, my mom was my general manager, communication director, and marketing manager and was responsible for helping me with accounting.
I was so lucky that she knew and had the time to help me.
But I knew I had to hire someone.
To figure out the best arrangement for your needs, first, determine what duties you must handle alone and then what duties you can delegate to someone else.
But remember, delegation requires training – isn’t dumping your responsibilities on someone else desk. The delegation also requires coaching, not just a discussion to explain what you want. Finally, delegation requires trust – don’t do micro-management, but let the person do it.
What about you? Are you good at delegation?
Comment below; I’d love to read how you do it!
