Episode 7 – HOW TO KICKSTART YOUR EMAIL LIST. If you’re ready to launch your online business and need tips to kickstart your email list, this Q&A episode is your blueprint.
Bianca is launching an online business and needs to build her email list.
Solange, I need to build my email list. I launched my online business last month. I offer my services as a website designer. When I told my friends on Facebook, I was launching my business, two of them reached out to get a new website for their business. But I will be completing both projects next week, and I need to find new clients; and I know an email list would help me promote my business.
Any advice for someone starting from scratch?
Here is what you can do.
Create and post original content weekly
First, create a Blog, a Podcast, or a video to share your expertise. One platform is best, so don’t platform switch. Don’t do a blog post one week, a podcast the next, and then throw in a random video episode the following week.
At the end of your post, podcast, or video, add a link inviting them to subscribe to your email list to receive more weekly tips and advice!
Stick with what you do best and what best serves your audience
By creating content, you will reach out to your ICA (potential customers or community) and share your knowledge with them.
Create an awesome lead magnet and opt-in page
Lead magnets are any free, valuable giveaway you offer your audience in exchange for their name and email address. To create your FREEBIE, answer this question: What do your potential clients need to understand, be aware of, or believe in to make them want to buy your services?
Here are some lead magnets: Cheat Sheet, Checklist, Guide, Video or Audio Training, Challenge, Quiz, or a Mini-Course.
You may want to create 2-3 freebies to start. Once you’ve completed your lead magnet, you need to create an opt-in page to collect names and emails from your email service provider.
You will also need a thank you page so your new subscribers know their information is received and what steps to take next to access the lead magnet.
After writing opt-in and thank you pages, integrate them with your email service provider. I use Kajabi to create my opt-in and thank-you pages, but you can use any other email service provider.
Mailchimp can be a good option. It’s easy to use, and they offer a free plan to help you kickstart your email list.
Another tip: Share your content on social media and engage with your audience. Focus on engagement. Don’t focus on numbers.
The goal is to help you build momentum in your business so that your audience is ready to buy when you launch your products and services.
Remember that your email list is one of the most valuable assets of your business. When you have enough subscribers on your email list, the work starts.
