Hey! To help you get your questions answered quickly, I created this new mini-post series all about Squarespace and Biz tips. Blogs in the mini-series will be shorter and sometimes related to a Freebie to help you get some answers to your questions.
Today, let’s talk about Elevator Pitches. Do you know what an Elevator Pitch is? It’s a 30-second memorable description of what you do, what you sell, and the problem you are solving.
The goal is to earn a second conversation, not convince the person you’re talking to they should hire you or buy your solution. If someone asks you, you need a short, snappy, easy-to-grasp explanation of your company and its products or services. But what do you have to say to grab their attention?
Here is a simple formula to describe your business:
- WHO are you?
- WHAT does your company do?
- WHY – which problem are you solving? That’s the value proposition.
An Elevator Pitch must be short, clean, and concise! If someone asks me what I’m doing, I will answer: “Through words, photos, and colors, we create amazing strategy plans & customized websites (what) for creative girl boss (who) launching her first online business (why).”
The next time you ride an elevator (wait to be alone), practice your speech! Remember, you’re talking to a stranger (at an event, waiting in line at the restaurant, in public transit, or even in an elevator) when they ask, “What do you do?” or “Where do you work?”.
Do you have an Elevator Pitch to promote your business? If you do, comment below and share it!
