Episode 4 – DO I NEED A WEBSITE? If you’re ready to launch your online business, you know that every business needs a website. Learn why in this Q&A episode.
Claire is starting her online business, and she needs a website!
I know you always say every business needs a website. But I don’t have the time to wait for a web designer to create my website and honestly, I don’t have the money to invest in a website. And I have zero tech skills, so I can’t create my own website. Can I just create a Facebook Page and promote my virtual assistant services there? Please help me and remember, I need to start selling tomorrow and I don’t want to pay a web designer to do the work.
Thanks for your help!
Here is what you can do.
You want your client to tell everyone they bought their amazing product or service from XYZ (AKA your business), not from Facebook or Amazon
Because the next time they want to buy a similar product or service, you want to make sure they will buy from you. You don’t want them on Amazon and Etsy looking for a product from someone else, and most importantly, you don’t want to pay these platforms a percentage on each sale.
You want to build trust and have loyal returning customers
Your website will give your business more credibility, allow you to get your own followers, and help build your email list. With a website, you’ll be able to showcase more of your products and services and communicate and promote 24/7.
Also, with a website, you have a chance of showing up in Google search results if you have a good SEO strategy. This means that when people are searching for a product/service, there is a chance your website will show up in the results.
Then, you can promote your business & your brand to new people 24/7.
I also want to tell you that you don’t have to pay a web designer if you’re just starting.
I created a FREE Squarespace Website Template and a step-by-step tutorial to help you create your own site. You can start by creating one page with all the information your ICA needs.
Another tip: Use a website builder to help you create your website. I use Squarespace for my own website and my clients, but your decision will be linked to your goal. If you are selling a lot of products and you manage an inventory, you may decide to use Shopify. But you can look at WordPress, Showit, Wix, and many others. They usually have a 14-day free trial, so give it a try!
Remember that your social media is an entry point to your brand, whereas a website establishes your credibility.
