Many of you have asked how they can start a side hustle and ditch their 9-5 job. What is a side hustle? It’s a small business that you run in your free time to help you bring in extra cash. People may start a side hustle to move over to doing it full-time eventually.
Here are some ideas…
Manage social media for small businesses
Many small businesses need a social media manager and don’t have the time or expertise to constantly post on social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter). Do you love posting and have an interest in a specific area?
Take it upon yourself to contact some small businesses and offer your services for a contracted monthly fee. You will be able to make money no matter where you live. Pick your niche and GO for it!
Become a virtual assistant
If you have lots of free time and are super organized, you may want to work for a small business that needs a virtual assistant. VAs are in high demand, and you can work from home… or overseas if you want to travel.
Remember that your new time zone could impact your schedule (you don’t want to work in the middle of the night while traveling).
Start a BLOG
I have to admit, you won’t make money that fast with a blog… but starting a blog and delivering enormous amounts of value can generate a tremendous amount of passive income. But be patient; you will need to build an audience and get followers on your social media platforms first!
This is something you can quickly make on the side with just a few hours of work per week… However, it’s essential to stay consistent and post great content regularly (ideally every week).
Blogging is the best way to build traffic and is the best SEO. If you’re a marketing expert, try to post some marketing tips every week… it will build trust with your community, and you’ll become an authority in your niche.
Create an online course
Create an online course with a platform like Kajabi, Thinkific, or Teachable, and leverage some of your skills to create a passive income. Share your expertise with your ICA (Ideal Client Avatar) by creating courses that deliver tremendous amounts of value.
We will launch our first course later in 2020, and to help me build it, I took Amy Portefield’s Digital Course Academy. Her course is sooooo amazing, and she is there Monday to Thursday, answering our questions via Facebook Live. If you want to launch your first online course, you should start with her course.
Write resumes
Good at writing? With COVID-19, people will look for another job and may need to do a resume… Use sites like LinkedIn and other professional sites for advertising your services.
If you have never done it before, do some for free to get testimonials, and don’t forget you need to establish how many pages your rate includes (usually do no more than 3).
Tutor
Are you a math or a biology teacher? Do you speak French, German, or Spanish? You can tutor people over Zoom or Skype, no matter where you might live. Are you looking to earn more money? You can do it at night or on weekends, and if you love to travel, this is a great way to work overseas.
Become a personal chef
This one is not for me (my friends, daughter, and even mom can confirm I can’t become a personal chef)! Are you a good cook? If you are, you should become a private chef and prepare meals for other people.
If you don’t want to deliver meals, you should record a video and show everyone how to cook their favorite meal. Market your services on social media (Facebook, Instagram) and build yourself a website to promote your daily recipes.
I love to follow RICARDO and get some recipe inspiration! He offers a multi-platform culinary experience via a magazine, online store, and TV show. Start with your online courses or show via Facebook live your recipe inspiration!
Freelance Copywriter
A copywriter is paid to write copy — aka the words used for a website or promoting any products or services. This includes things like Website, Sales pages, Emails, Landing pages, Blog posts, are Social media posts. And the best part is that you also don’t need any formal education… so pick your niche and get started!
Become an Affiliate Marketer
Affiliate marketing is one of those side hustle ideas that can either make you a lot of money or nothing at all. It’s not just about finding the right product to sell but also finding the right brand to partner with. Do some research and contact them!
Sell Your Photography
If you have a camera and some basic Photoshop skills, photography can become your new side hustle. If you like taking pictures, you can sell your photography to bloggers. Some sites (such as Foap) allow you to sell your images on its platform, and you can earn money with every photo you sell.
Let us know what you’re working on!
Remember, you can’t sell everything to everyone, so narrow your niche!
So Cheers to new business, Y’all!
