Are you a big fan of a to-do list? Ready to learn how to deal with your to-do list?
I love to have my to-do list on my desk when I start my week, and I’m so proud on Friday when I’m done with everything on it! 🥳🥳
Here are five tips if you are wondering how I tackle my to-do list.
Track what you don’t need to do
I know this one can feel weird, but when I list all the tasks that must be completed, I also track what I don’t need to do this week or that I could delegate to someone on my team.
The goal is to get control of your tasks so you can get your most important work done.
Prioritize your work
Sort your work by project or priority, depending on your preferences. I love to prioritize all my tasks by project, and I batch similar tasks, which I discovered also increases my productivity.
When you switch tasks or start on a new project, your brain needs time to adjust and recalibrate. I used to be the queen of multitasking, but I do it when I can batch tasks or automate them.
Make it SMART
Make your list Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound. As I do when I set goals, I love to do the same for my to-do list. I make each task-specific, and I set a deadline.
Even if you don’t set a hard deadline, it’s better to jot down a specific time and move it than miss the deadline!
Break big work into smaller tasks
When I have more than one day’s schedule to finalize an item on my to-do list, I divide it into smaller tasks.
Turn off notifications
Because I need to be productive, I now turn off notifications on my phone and computer… It’s a better way to focus than being distracted by a random ping.
Your to-do list helps you create accountability but remember that you can always reschedule and organize time differently.
And guess what? I make a to-do list on weekends too! 😂
What about you? How do you deal with your to-do list?
