Pick your niche

Pick your niche

Hey! To help you get your questions answered quickly, I created this new mini-post series all about Squarespace and Biz tips. Blogs in the mini-series will be shorter and sometimes related to a Freebie to help you get some answers to your questions.

Today, let’s talk about the three questions you need to ask yourself when thinking about your niche!

I know focusing on that ONE element that makes your brand unique can be challenging, but you can’t sell EVERYTHING to EVERYONE! This is why niching is soooo important.

Here are the three questions to ask to get clear about your business idea!

Make a list of your passion/hobbies

Imagine your life if you turn your passion into profits. It’s not easy, but building a business from scratch can be a long journey, so pick something you love.

Do you like to write, or do Crossfit or ballet? Make a list of 10 interests and passion areas immediately. What Would You Do If You Were Guaranteed Success?

What would you do if you absolutely could NOT fail? Seriously, what would you do? Be bold!

Make a list of your skills and know-how

Then, start by writing down a list of your skills, areas of expertise, and knowledge.

What are you good at it? We all have skills, and that includes YOU.

In the business you are creating, how do you best add value? As you think about this, it’s important to remember where you were before you knew what you know now.

What problem do you want to solve?

Now, with your list of business ideas in hand (passion + skills = biz ideas), you’re ready to start narrowing down your options.

To create a profitable business, you first need to find problems your target customers are experiencing, then determine whether you can solve them.

So, identify what problem you want to solve for your clients. What would you do differently from your competitors?

For instance, you may be an expert in digital marketing, but you could narrow that niche down further by specializing in marketing for Yoga Teachers…
