Hey! To help you get your questions answered quickly, I created this new mini-post series all about Squarespace and Biz tips. Blogs in the mini-series will be shorter and sometimes related to a Freebie to help you get some answers to your questions.
After my post on FINANCIAL NUMBERS YOU SHOULD TRACK, I received a question asking me the same question, but for a website. So, here are five important numbers you should know and track:
Bounce rate
The bounce rate metric, displayed as a percentage, tells you how many visitors leave your website immediately after arriving. The lower your bounce rate, the more visitors there are sticking around to enjoy your website and (hopefully) convert.
Conversion rate
Your conversion rate is easy to calculate: Unique Visitors/Conversions. The higher the conversion rate, the better your website is doing.
Top pages
Analytics displays the number of page views and how those page views look as a percentage of total page views across the entire website.
Traffic sources
You should know where your traffic is coming from (use Google Analytics to find out). Google Analytics breaks down your traffic sources into four categories:
Direct: traffic typing your domain into the browser
Organic Search: traffic coming via the search engines
Referral: traffic from another website
Social: traffic from social media
Website Traffic
Track the total number of visits to a website to know if your website is growing, stagnating, or declining. Create strategies to bring new eyes to your website.
