Continued learning is your self-motivated persistence in acquiring knowledge and competencies to expand your skillset and develop future opportunities.
People who know me will tell you that I will still be in school at 90 years old … I will be the oldest student in college, but I will be there!
“Intellectual growth should commence at birth and only cease at death,” Albert Einstein.
Here are the reasons you should always be learning:
Prepare for the unexpected
Acquiring new skills will unveil new opportunities and help you find new solutions to challenges. When I face a challenge, I look for solutions in different industries and understand how “other entrepreneurs resolved my challenge.”
Sparks new ideas
New solutions and strategies can give you new expertise and generate more income for you and your business. By learning new skills, you will learn to do things differently.
I love when I can propose different strategies to my clients by giving examples from other businesses’ successes or failures. Reading blogs and listening to Podcasts help me understand different strategies. The more you learn, the better you’ll see more sides of the situation.
Get more confidence
When we learn new things, we boost our confidence! And with more confidence, you’ll feel more ready to take on challenges and explore new business opportunities.
Be irreplaceable to your clients
Your clients love to know you have many resources and can find different solutions to their challenges. If you can find different strategies, know the pros and cons, and explain how to build and run these strategies, now you’ve become irreplaceable to your clients.
Continuous learning is essential to growth. But remember, the frustrations that come with it are also a requirement. The learning curve is part of the learning process. You will make progress if you face the challenges and work through those frustrations.
Why not learn something new every day? Get into the habit of reading by scheduling your time. I love to read in the morning. Also, build a network of go-to experts and ask questions. I’m part of different groups, and we discuss many different topics each week, but every time, I learn something new.
You can read books and blogs, listen to podcasts, and take online courses. With these options, you can learn when you want and manage your schedule. Always have a curious mind and explore different topics; this will help you run a successful business.
